Christmas Reflection
Incarnation to Salvation
Today we
celebrate with joy
the
birthday of a baby boy.
We know
him from His work as man
fulfilling
God's eternal plan.
His
forbears were a line of kings
so
He would do majestic things.
But let us
go back to the start -
His
mother Mary gave her heart
to
Israel's God whom she adored
with
Gabriel's message from her Lord -
He'd
chosen her to bear His Son.
The
Incarnation had begun.
Soon
shepherd men came from the hill
to see the
manger calm and stil
wherein
their Saviour shone with light.
They
thanked God for this glorious sight
and told
the news, as we must tell,
while
hosts of angels sang Nowell.
Then
when, full grown, He walked the street
the
poor, sick outcasts for to meet
and
when His healing work was done
He
preached how mercy would be won
when
on a cross He'd die in pain
so
humankind could heaven gain.
Now,
as we celebrate this day
let's
thank Him that He made a way
for us to
go to be with Him
when our
time comes and eyes grow dim.
Meanwhile
let's ring all bells on earth
to praise
God for our Jesus' birth.
