Coronation
Ranks
of red-robed regiments
marching
down The Mall,
a
marvellous, monstrous machine,
moving
as one - left, right, left, right.
Wet
London streets echo to the cheers
of
thousands of wet well-wishers
proudly
waving Union flags,
crying
'God save the King.'
Empty
Whitehall windows
gaze
down on the majestic procession,
the
Diamond Jubilee Coach
eagerly
drawn by six Horse Guards greys.
In
the Abbey the globe's gracious great gather,
among
cloaked and medalled nobles.
Loyalists
who choose to
cry
allegiance to King Charles III.
With
polished faces and polished voices
rows
of choristers
drive
the memorable, historic service along.
Organ
and orchestra whisper then rise to thunder.
Charles
solemnly receives the sceptre for equity and mercy,
and
the orb - symbol of God's power and his power;
repeats
holy words of promise to defend the Faith;
signs
a pledge to serve his subjects.
Finally,
our anticipation rewarded -
St
Edward's richly jewelled crown is lifted high,
blessed
and nestled securely on the sovereign's head.
The
Gold State Coach, his people and the future await him.
