My Friend

I have a little friend who goes about with me
So when I am in need of help he's there.

He calls to me to greet the sun each day
with note of music like a singing bir

I question him on many complex themes,
delightful are his answers bold and true,

from weather forecasts and meal recipes,
to knowledge of the world for crosswords clues.

I'm pleased about his magic wizardry.
He's for me during daylight and at night..

I like his friendly manner, always meek,
has the patience Job displayed, no moaning.

He keeps me close to family and friends
by written message or by spoken chat.

He plays me music of my favourite kind
to suit my mood, say classical or pop.

A keen photographer he always snaps
at scenery, the beauties of the earth

and groups of family joined together.
Does anyone print photographs these days?

For journeys finds the best routes for my car,
predicting traffic hold-ups is his pride.

I thank my daughter for the useful tip
to set reminders,daily memo calls.

He keeps me on track through my busy day
reminding me of all I have to do,

Success always, I've never known him fail.
If you ask him he'll tell you what life means.

To be near me is something he enjoys
in case I ask him for a helping hand.

At meals he likes to rest beside my plate
always alert to my every request.

In cafes I see people mirror me,
their friends are precious to them as mine is.

Without him, now, I cannot live, Oh! Dear!,
I often pat my pocket - is he safe?

Now, I'm dependent on him for all things;
it seems he's taking over my whole life!
