Revenge

A stranger on his horse
Plotted his favoured course;
Straight to the old castle
Without any hassle.
The maid he was after
Chuckled with blithe laughter
Awaiting her suitor
With no competitor.
Their love had come alive
When would her man arrive?
A clatter in the yard
The prince spurred his steed hard.
'I've come to claim my bride.'
Windows opened wide
Eyes eager to see
Who this stranger could be.
'I'm a valiant knight
I have the perfect right
To claim this maiden dear,
I do so without fear.
Her father killed my dad
When I was just a lad
I've come for pay back time
I think it is no crime.
I'll take his sole daughter
Bring her to the altar.
Her dowry then will be
His recompense to me
For all the years of pain
After my dad was slain.
This lady is my prize
For my father's demise.
That thug's debt could be paid
With my cold, steel blade.
But taking his money
And his precious honey
Are my ample reward;
Mightier than the sword.'
