Sea Song

06/08/2021

We watch waves washing the edge of the bay
rise and dip, twinkle and surge, spew and curl
dancing tirelessly all night and all day.

Like steam engines' music they seem to say
dip your feet in our waves and make a twirl,
enthralled by the ocean so green and grey.

Maidens with white lace mantillas that fray,
kicking their sparkling feet, girl holding girl
dancing tirelessly all night and all day,

line chasing line but never catching, they
each proudly display a necklace of pearl,
enthralled by the ocean so green and grey.

A strutting seagull tempts the waves to stray
far up the sand to expire in a swirl
dancing tirelessly all night and all day.

Give me your hand; we will leap in the spray,
holding you warm in my arms we will whirl,
enthralled by the ocean so green and grey
dancing tirelessly all night and all day.
