Spring

13/04/2021

So blue -
the wide, wide world of sky above us,
grey-patched with white-edged hairy, hoary
bespangled clouds this bright new morn.

To view
the round clear lightness beyond the bend
in the damp earth tunnel, creep rabbits newly born.

So new -
young birds release their freshly-fledged wings
to launch out from their nest's steady shade.

Too true -
the lovers' promises whispered beneath
the stooping, listening, blossoming branches
in a secret, soft-grassed glade.

As you
see lightness, boldness, freshness in lawn
and wood and park and street and wold,

know you
now, that life rekindles from old winter's hold.
